Overview

On February 21, Vladimir Putin suspended the New START treaty with the United States during his annual State of the Nation Address. 

The New START treaty was signed by U.S. President Barack Obama and then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in April 2010, reducing the amount of nuclear arms each country could possess.
