Since Sunday, Belarus has emerged as a leading narrative among the U.S. media. Almost all unique narratives associated with Belarus are related to opposition journalist Roman Protasevich who was arrested after Belarusian authorities forced the diversion of his Ryanair flight to Minsk. Leading conversation trends include Ryanair flight, Roman Protasevich, fighter jet, European Union, and bomb threat. Additionally, a number of these unique narratives discussed the ongoing press freedom crisis and dissident crackdown in Belarus. Overall, 82 sources have amplified more than 100 unique narratives on the topic with the leading amplifiers including Reuters, Bloomberg, and the New York Times.
